520 8 |a Annotation  |b Anthony Hunt and his office Anthony Hunt Associates (AHA) have for nearly forty years been producing structural engineering that is celebrated for its visual quality and its technical elegance. However, one of Hunt's greatest achievements is the part that he has played in redefining the relationship between architects and engineers. Hunt has challenged the traditional role of the engineer by working with architects as part of the design team from the very conception of the project throughout the entire design and construction process. This book is mainly concerned with the contribution which Tony Hunt has made to the development of British architecture, including his work with four of Britain's most prominent architects - Norman Foster, Richard Rogers, Michael Hopkins and Nicholas Grimshaw. His interest in the visual aspects of structural design have allowed him to form fruitful collaborations with these and other leading architects and to contribute significantly to the development of the architecture of High Tech Modernism, in which exposed structures have played a major visual role. This look at Hunt's crucial input into some of the most important buildings of the late twentieth century will appeal to all interested in contemporary architecture and innovative structural design.
