Social media activity, and geotagged content is everywhere. The Social Cloud is a geospatial Augmented Reality (AR) art app, that reveals the hidden narrative of social media all around us. This is done through the real time visualisation and sonification of localised social media data. This practice led research project centres on AR, social media data, and data visualisation. It investigates ways in which these can be combined, in order to create a unique geolocational AR data artwork. Practices and processes of developing creative works with AR and data are also explored. The Social Cloud is a proof of concept, as well as a real world mobile smart device app. It is being developed in collaboration with computer science students, and AR company, Imersia Ltd. The finalised app is not being submitted for assessment, but the processes and practices involved in its development are analysed in relation to the practice led aims of this research.
