But no country or culture is perfect in all its dimensions, and although Samoa was the first Pacific Island nation to establish, in 1991, a separate Ministry concerned with women's issues, there may be some cultural practices and beliefs that need to be reexamined if women are to participate fully in all aspects of community life. |
