Whakarāpopototanga:This project explores how the use of clinical guidelines can be improved through a design-led approach. Clinicians in surgical operation settings at Auckland City Hospital, as primary users of clinical guidelines, were placed at the centre of the project design process in order to gain an in-depth and holistic understanding of guideline users. The guideline design was prototyped to ensure key principles of information design are adhered to, setting structure, user accessibility and visual design at the forefront of the information design process. The outcome of the research was a smartphone application for haematology-related guidelines that enables efficient and accurate decision-making in perioperative settings.
