Abstract: The Waitaki District on New Zealand's South Island has been designated as the Waitaki Whitestone Global Geopark by UNESCO. This geopark covers 2,785 square miles and contains 42 geological, cultural, and paleontological sites. The area is known for its unique geological features, including limestone formations like the Elephant Rocks and the Moeraki Boulders. The geopark aims to promote education, protect natural features, and support sustainable development.
