Abstract: The article presents Part Five of the book "Dhuuluu Yala to Talk Straight." It focuses on Maori Literature and states that Maori, native Polynesian population of New Zealand, has no written language or literature until colonisation. The first Maori novel that was published in 1972 is "Pounamu, Pounamu" by Witi Ihimaera. In 1970s the Maori Artists' and Writers' Group were established, and developments in Maori literature were manifested through the 1985 "Penguin Book of New Zealand Verse."
