Abstract: Police have arrested two youths over a spate of bus robberies in the Hutt Valley in less than a week. A statement yesterday said the two people, aged 15 and 16, were due to appear in the Hutt Valley Youth Court on Wednesday. The four incidents happened over six days beginning April 17, where two people flagged down buses at a High St stop in Naenae, before they boarded, assaulted the drivers and stole the bus cash box. Police said at that time there were five robberies, but subsequently clarified there were only four. Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Todd, of the Hutt Valley Police, said yesterday the drivers only received minor injuries and minimal amounts of money were taken, and thanked local residents for providing “vital pieces of information”. He hoped the arrests would be a relief to the involved bus drivers and their passengers.
