Abstract: | A literary criticism of the biblical text Genesis 38, which discusses the characters Judah and Tamar, is presented. Topics include the role that garments play in the text, the relationship of the this motif to a similar theme in the narratives about the character Joseph, and the depictions of symbolic status and authority through the use of this motif. |
