Abstract: We will assert that there are key concepts and principles of Jain Philosophy relevant to contemporary problems facing business consulting. Our approach in this essay is to have an ODC conversation with Jain philosophy so readers can experience these principles and concepts in a way of doing ODC that has relevance to key contemporary problems such as sustainability, fairness, and collaboration instead of potentially destructive win-lose competitiveness. We focus on five ethical principles of Jainism relevant to the practice of ODC. We authors both practice Jain philosophy (not the Jain religion). Jain philosophy is highly complex and has been evolving over the last 2,500 years. Yet, several ethical principles and aspirations from Jainism are very relevant to today's business practices, especially current social and environmental sustainability concerns.
