Abstract: | This article reports that art and photography books have made inroads onto the mainstream bestseller charts in the first half of 2006 in Great Britain, following the lead set by David Dimbleby's BBC tie-in "A Picture of Britain," in 2005. Focus on the art books world has been provided by memoirs from well-known modern artists, and by the resurgence in interest, thanks to author Dan Brown, in artist Leonardo da Vinci. Tracey Emin's "Strangeland" gained stellar reviews and has continued to sell into 2006, while Wendy Jones' "Grayson Perry: Portrait of the Artist as a Young Girl" brought the Turner Prize-winner to a new audience. |
