Abstract: In conversation with media scholar Alysse Kushinski, Sara Angelucci offers an insight into I Aviary i (2013), a series of digital photomontages of bird-human hybrids. This project brought together artists and academics from a variety of disciplines to converse and critically investigate how digital information technologies have changed the way humans think about and relate to animals. What needs to be accounted for, as artist Julie Andreyev notes, is not only the ability but also the limitations of technology to mimic life (33, 37) and as artist Ken Rinaldo aptly points out, we must consider as much the danger and power as the life-saving potential of technology (84).
