Abstract: The book "Facilitating researchers in insecure zones: Towards a more equitable knowledge production" edited by Oscar Abedi Dunia, Anju Oseema Maria Toppo, and James B. M. Vincent explores the unequal relationship between contracting researchers and facilitating researchers in conflict-affected and unstable environments. The book includes case studies from the DR Congo, Sierra Leone, and Jharkhand, India, written by facilitating researchers. It highlights exploitative behavior by contracting researchers, such as non-inclusion in research design, non-payment of fees, and theft of knowledge. The book also discusses the need for institutional changes to create a more equitable research process and emphasizes the importance of recognizing the contribution of facilitating researchers.
