| Abstract: | The article presents the author's views on the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident in Japan. He talks about major nuclear accidents like Chernobyl nuclear accident in Ukraine in 1986, and says that despite problems with long-term storage of its waste, the nuclear industry has good safety record. He talks about the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale, used to measure the severity of nuclear accidents. He focuses on groundwater contamination, and cleanup operations at Fukushima. |
