Abstract: The article provides an overview of comics and graphic novels in high school education and highlights pedagogical strategies to guide students in making comics and graphic novels within a precollege course. It presents findings from a case study on the graphic stories that high school students choose to create. It discusses the influence of graphic narrating in forming the self, artmaking prompts and narrative remixing, and implications of comics and graphic novels for K-16 art education.
