Abstract: The article explores the question of whether landscape architects should be more involved in agriculture in Australia. Currently, landscape architecture practice mainly focuses on urban and peri-urban areas, leaving the vast majority of the country's agricultural landscapes untouched. The author argues that landscape architects have the potential to contribute to agricultural landscapes by providing spatio-economic land planning guidance and promoting alternative land-use scenarios. Opportunities for engagement include farm diversification through carbon offsetting, biodiversity restoration, renewable energy projects, and mixed land-use planning. The article emphasizes the need for landscape architects to expand their practices and impacts beyond urban areas to address the urgent environmental pressures of the Anthropocene.
