Abstract: The Hawke's Bay Regional Museum Research and Archives Centre is being built in Hastings, New Zealand to house approximately 90,000 artefacts for the Hastings and Napier Councils. The two-level, 2067m2 facility is designed by RTA Studio and features a 'Lighthouse' and a 'Darkhouse' to separate public and private functions. The design incorporates input from mana whenua (local Māori tribes) and MTG conservators, and the laser-cut aluminium façade resembles a huia feather, symbolizing protection. The project is expected to be completed in April 2025 and will store the region's extensive collection of ancestral taonga worth close to $30 million. [Extracted from the article]
