Abstract: Chapter 6 of the book "Design Culture in Liverpool 1880-1914:The Origins of the Liverpool School of Architecture," by Christopher Crouch is presented. The Liverpool School of Architecture created impact during Charles Reilly's first ten years of teaching from 1985 to 1904. Reilly adopted the Beaux Arts, a style that was a rationalized classical one, large in scale and restrained in detailing. He became executive of the City Beautiful movement in Liverpool in 1906. The idea of the City Beautiful was popularised by an American, Charles Mulford Robinson.
