Description
Summary:Clinical psychology of the present embodies a diversity of activities. The preparation of clinical psychologists accordingly calls for a plurality of approaches. No longer can clinical psychology be described as testing, treatment, and research; no longer is the typical sequence in training programs 4 years of work in a graduate school with an internship during the third year. One of the main purposes of the Conference on the Professional Preparation of Clinical Psychologists is to examine the various alternatives for training put forward in response to the changing needs of the profession and the society which it serves. This collection of position papers is to serve as a stimulus and basis for such an examination. The papers were solicited and selected to reflect some of the basic proposals for training which have been advanced in recent years and to highlight the diversity of interests, competencies and occupational specializations which are currently found in clinical psychology.
