Description
Summary:This practice based research project explores the way the human form interacts with clothing and in turn how clothing responds to movement. Through the analysis and understanding of the physiology of the body in motion, this research aims to create garments that move in response to the moving body. With a focus on menswear, I aim to further my skills in complex pattern-making, particularly in woven fabrics, which will facilitate the development of an alternative approach to cutting. This is by means of experimentation with existing cutting techniques and methods. Within this exegesis, I cover the contextual framework that informs and influences my practice, as well as the overarching methodology and methods undertaken to reach the outcome: a developed set of intermediate blocks that respond to the aim of the research, as well as a series of variations on those blocks in different woven fabrics.
