Summary: | The practice-based research project creatively explores the recent resurgence of zine publishing amongst graphic designers and illustrators. The work engages with craftbased image production, with a focus on the Risograph stencil printer. The process investigates what is possible when a DIY ethos is used as foundation thinking to underscore traditional zine publishing inline with professional practice where the roles of designer, editor, printer, maker and publisher are intertwined. Portrayed as a series of risographic artefacts, the research draws heavily from my own practice as an illustrator and conversations surrounding the use of craftbased media within professional graphic design. |
