Description
Summary:In April 2008, the Fiji Water Foundation and Conservation International (CI) entered into a three- year grant agreement to protect the natural resources of Viti Levu, Fiji. The agreement focused on three key objectives: Definition of the Viti Levu Conservation Corridor; Contribution to the Sovi Basin Trust Fund; and Scientific and technical assessments and community consultations to facilitate conservation initiatives within the Yaqara and Nakauvadra watersheds. This RAP survey was undertaken as part of the process to facilitate conservation initiatives within the Yaqara and Nakauvadra watersheds. More specifically, the survey was conducted to gain a better understanding of the existing environment in the Yaqara Valley and provide an ecological baseline assessment of the proposed Nakauvadra Range forest reserve. This information will then be used to make informed decisions on the conservation management of the biodiversity in the area in conjunction with local landowning communities and relevant government departments.
