Description
Summary:The following research aims to explore the capabilities of interactivity in virtual reality (VR) using established game mechanics, found in the Detective style or investigative point and click adventures game genres. This project will study interactive features found in these existing console titles in order to undertake practical ways to adapt them to a VR set up. Using an iterative action research framework these features can be integrated by taking cues from established methods, of forensic gameplay and adapting them to the HTC VIVE virtual reality platform. The intended outcome is to create a limited proof of concept virtual reality game experience which focusses on several key interactive models. This will be accompanied by documented research on the processes used to scrutinize and detail its process of creation, as well as the challenges and problem-solving faced in its development. Key elements of the investigation are the use of rag doll physics and item manipulation as a means of creating an investigative forensic experience (I.E location of injury on a body), locomotion of the player and how interaction in the environment can play a pinnacle source of clue gathering.
