Description
Summary:As a non-profit organization, Intermountain Healthcare has established its presence as one of the major healthcare providers throughout Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. IHC has taken a classic primary care model and expanded into other sectors of healthcare such as accessible InstaCare locations, home healthcare, medical training/education, computer software, and much more, in order to provide efficient care at an affordable price to the patients of the Intermountain West. With efficient care through information technology as the goal, IHC started lowering patient costs and began experiencing decreasing operating margins. With decreasing margins, Intermountain Healthcare was forced to overcome losses by investing, partnering, and allocating funds to other ventures. This case will discuss Intermountain Healthcare's success utilizing its growth and strong information technology to provide excellent and affordable care to its patients, and challenges the reader to consider how the nonprofit can continue to improve its services and viability in the future.
