Summary: | Despite significant progress, women are still underrepresented at senior levels in many organizations. Equitable and inclusive learning and development is crucial for the advancement of women. This methods case study is based on the research undertaken to explore the role of gender in employee training and development. This research included an extensive literature review, followed by a qualitative, explorative case study conducted at a multinational corporation. When researching the role of gender, this methods case study highlights that it is important to recognize the hidden impact of gender and enabling research participants to recognize the role of gender. This case study discusses the use of critical statements and a gender subtext analysis to address the underlying role and impact of gender in employee training. In addition, the methodological choices made, the challenges faced, and strategies and tactics employed to overcome these challenges are described. Finally, lessons learned and advice for future research are shared. |
